5G ROAMING

ADVANCED LEVEL – 3.3. Roaming Programme
THIS COURSE IS AVAILABLE:

What will you learn?

With the emergence of 5G networks globally in 2019, 5G Roaming is already being developed and rolled out. It’s clearly the next major project in Roaming delivery for Mobile Operators.

Combined with ROCCO’s 5G Roaming Research with MNOs, this training course includes topics such as:

  • 5G Concepts & Ecosystem
  • Roaming Checklist
  • Deployment options
  • Beamforming
  • Importance of Spectrum
  • Architecture Design: E2E Enablers, RAN, 5G Transport
  • Network Slicing
  • IoT Integrations and challenges
  • Fraud & Security issues
  • Coverage considerations
  • Opportunities & Challenges

The purpose of this module is to provide an overall understanding of what 5G Roaming is and how it works. Jason Bryan explains the basics of 5G, its history, its main characteristics, and the different types that exist. Finally, use cases and several fake news related to 5G are pointed out.

Module’s content:

  • 5G technology, why is it important?
  • What does the network look like?
  • 4G vs 5G
  • 5G Use Cases
  • 5G Dangers, fact and fiction
  • 5G Internet
  • 5G Speed, how fast is it?

Dhiraj Wazir introduces us to one of the most interesting facts related to 5G: Network Slicing. Through the module, students will learn the characteristics of 5G Network Slices and its deployments, including an overview of the changes predicted in the industry. Finally, new Network Slicing use cases are presented.

  • What are Network Slices
  • How are slices created
  • Types & uses
  • Roaming on Network Slices

Who is this course for?

  • Wholesale Roaming Managers and coordinators new to 5G Roaming, or that have some basic understanding and need to get a better view to help them prepare for their roll-out.
  • Operatives in Vendors interested to know the background for 5G Roaming from the perspective of Wholesale Roaming Managers and coordinators.
  • Anyone with a strong interest in 5G who wants to understand the processes and considerations behind the delivery of 5G Roaming.

Why choose this course?

5G is an umbrella term for the fifth-generation of mobile networks. 5G will be much faster than 4G and has the potential to compete with home broadband upload and download speeds. 5G will enable users to upload content, such as 4K videos straight from smartphones in record time. But it also comes with some exciting new options for mobile operators which will be reviewed in depth from the perspective of Roaming in this course.

Starting with an overview of 5G, which gives a solid foundation for the rest of the course, we go through all the aspects of 5G Roaming which make it different from 4G and 3G Roaming delivery.

Students will learn why 5G is unique and how to handle the challenges and opportunities it presents. Moreover, this course also explains how to be better prepared for delivering 5G Roaming.

By the end of the course, students will know:

  • The differences between 4G and 5G
  • What’s unique about 5G
  • How to deliver Roaming Agreements for 5G
  • How to set up their Roaming operations to equip themselves for 5G Roaming
  • How to prepare for the long term changes and new processes which 5G will introduce.
