In this module, we look at the competitive landscape, we look at a model which helps us to carefully review the Micro Environment, including insights on several of the key industry influences such as 5G, AI (Artificial Intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things), Roaming Bill Shock, Blockchain, etc., and why and how these influences have an impact on Wholesale International Roaming.

The company we work in and how it affects our International Wholesale Roaming strategy. In this module, we look at the company, its values, vision, mission, and its objectives. We also address the capability of the company, the outsourcing, the roaming team, the business model and the balanced scorecard.

The what-if scenarios… In this module Jason discusses what Scenario Planning is, some scenarios which could occur in our industry, some dos and don’ts, and then takes us through a model for considering scenarios that may help companies eliminate future surprises. The module concludes by looking at some interesting Force Majeure scenarios and what happens to roaming traffic when these real events occurred.

Considering all the work that has been carried out in the previous modules, Jason pulls together the insights, takes us through a Strategic dialogue model and shows us what an effective Strategy plan should look like.

A strategic plan is only as good as the action plans that come out of it. Looking at several examples, we see what an action plan looks like, how it’s created and most importantly, how to motivate the team to get into the habit of working with the strategy and delivering the action plans.

Jason has worked for O2 UK for 10 years, Vodafone Roaming Services for 4 years, a small MVNO and two industry vendors and is experienced in Strategy and Commercial decision-making.

Jason has chaired GSMA Roaming Innovation Group and won four industry awards for Innovation and ideas.
